Get your Ghost site cited by AI search.

Ghost is built for publishing, which makes it a good home for the answers AI quotes. Citable measures whether ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI cite you and publishes sourced posts through the Ghost Admin API.

Why AI cites (or skips) Ghost sites

AI search engines quote public pages that answer a question with clear text and sources. A Ghost publication usually has plenty of text; what matters is whether it answers the questions your buyers ask AI, and whether those posts are public.

Citable checks, week by week, the questions where AI cites competitors or third-party pages instead of you and writes posts that answer them, with sources and internal links to your own posts.

What gets in the way on Ghost

Citable’s weekly audit checks your public site from outside, the way AI crawlers see it, and tells you what to change.

01

Members-only posts can’t be quoted

Crawlers see what an anonymous visitor sees. A post for members or paid subscribers only shows its public part, so AI can’t quote the rest. Keep the posts meant to be cited public.

02

AI crawlers and robots.txt

The audit checks from outside whether your robots.txt lets each AI search crawler in (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot…) and gives you the corrected text if one is blocked.

03

Brand details in structured data

The audit checks Organization and WebSite schema on the homepage and Article schema on posts, and writes the JSON-LD that’s missing. In Ghost, extra code for the site header goes in Settings → Code injection.

04

Thin homepage

A homepage that’s only a list of post titles may have little text of its own. Below about 200 words, the audit warns that AI has little to understand about who you are.

What Citable publishes on Ghost

Draft or live

Arrives as a draft unless automatic publishing is on. To unpublish, switch it to draft in Ghost.

Unpublish from Ghost

Ghost converts the HTML to its own editor format. The feature image is linked by URL; images inside the article are uploaded to Ghost. To improve a post that’s already live, Citable sends a new draft instead of editing it, because Ghost shows edits to a published post straight away.

Fields we fill

  • Title and slug
  • Body (Ghost converts the HTML to its editor)
  • Excerpt and meta description
  • Feature image (by URL)

What do I need to connect Ghost?

Ghost 5 or later and a custom integration: Settings → Integrations → Add custom integration. Copy its Admin API key (id:secret) and paste it in Citable with your site URL.

Do posts go live straight away?

No. They arrive as drafts unless you turn on automatic publishing, with its approval window. To unpublish, switch the post to draft in Ghost.

Does Citable fill the meta description?

Yes: title and slug, body, excerpt and meta description, feature image, tags and publication date.

Can Citable promise AI will cite my site?

No, and nobody can. Citable measures every week how often each AI mentions and cites you, with a confidence range, publishes sourced articles for the gaps and shows when a published URL starts being cited.
