Outrank alternative

Outrank starts at $99/mo. Citable starts at €19, articles included.

Outrank publishes a lot of content and builds links on autopilot. Citable also runs on autopilot, but with verification, a calibration period and an approval window, and it measures whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI actually cite you, every week. It publishes to the same CMSs, with no link schemes, from €19/month.

In short

Outrank ($99/month per site, as published) generates and auto-publishes 30 SEO articles a month, researches keywords and builds backlinks automatically. Its AI visibility page says the citation counts it shows “are tracked by Ahrefs, not by us”. Citable starts from measurement: every week it asks the AI engines your buyers’ questions, finds where competitors get cited instead of you, writes sourced articles for those gaps (Business, with 30 a month, is €89; up to 90 with extra packs), publishes the ones that pass verification after an approval window, and shows whether they get cited.

What to watch for with Outrank

Everything below comes from their own public pages or Google's documentation, checked 4 October 2026. Follow the links and judge for yourself.

Results aren’t measured per question

Outrank’s AI visibility page says the citation counts it shows “are tracked by Ahrefs, not by us”, and that inside Outrank you track rankings, indexed pages and backlinks. We didn’t find tracking of your own buyer questions across AI engines in the product as of September 2026.

Backlinks paid for with links you host

Its pricing FAQ says you earn the credits that pay for backlinks “by hosting a relevant link in your own articles”. Google’s spam policies list excessive link exchanges and “using automated programs or services to create links to your site” as examples of link spam. Judge the risk for yourself.

You carry that risk

Its terms say backlink placements are published automatically with “no manual preview or approval step”, and that by using backlink building you agree to indemnify Outrank from related penalties.

Framer and Webflow sites did worst in its own study

In Outrank’s study of 2,119 sites, Framer had the lowest share of sites that grew among publishing integrations (69% of 42 sites) and Webflow was next (72% of 67). The study has no control group, as it says itself.

Volume takes review time

Thirty articles a month is a lot to check. Outrank sells a Human Curated Service ($1,399/month) where editors fact-check every article. Without it, checking each piece is your job.

Refunds and cancelling

Its terms offer first-time subscribers a refund within 7 days; after that, “all sales are final”. Its pricing page says “Cancel anytime”.

Why weekly, not daily

Every week we ask each question 3 times to each AI in your plan.

A single daily answer swings a lot from one day to the next; several weekly samples give a more reliable figure.

  • Starter: 3 answers from each of its 5 AI engines every week, about 65 answers per question a month (±10 points).
  • Growth: 3 answers from each of its 5 AI engines every week, about 65 answers per question a month (±10 points).
  • Business: 3 answers from each of its 6 AI engines every week (Claude: 1), about 69 answers per question a month (±10 points).

Answers a month = samples × AI engines × 4.3 weeks in an average month. The margin is the 90% confidence range (Wilson) in the worst case, a 50% rate; every figure in the app shows its own range.

Measured every week, with its margin

Which one

Outrank or Citable: which suits you?

Each has its strengths. What each one does best, and when to choose it.

Outrank

What it does best

  • Volume: 30 articles a month on its base plan, and 60 or 90 with add-ons. Business offers the same volumes (30 included, 60 or 90 with extra packs), so this is no longer a gap; their link building still is something we don't do.
  • Publishing breadth, for longer: its plan connects to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Wix, Framer, Notion, Ghost and a custom webhook. We connect the same except Wix, which is still being switched on.
  • Keyword research with search volume and difficulty data, in a chat, with unlimited keyword sets.
  • An established product: named case studies, a 2,119-site Search Console study that openly lists its own limitations, and a long-running affiliate program.
  • 150+ languages and unlimited users on one plan.

Choose Outrank if…

  • You want the most articles per dollar and classic keyword coverage.
  • You need a platform we don’t connect yet (check our integrations page).
  • You’re comfortable with automated link building and its risk.

Citable

What it does best

  • Proof every week. We ask each buyer question three times per engine, every week, and report the share of answers that mention and cite you with a 90% range. When a page we published starts being cited, you see it. Learn more: Proof every week
  • Autopilot with verification. Every article cites its sources and must pass an automatic check (no unsupported numbers, no lists that rank you first) with zero errors before it can be scheduled. Articles that fail stay as drafts. Learn more: Autopilot with verification
  • Calibration and an approval window. The first 3 articles per site are approved by hand. After that, each one goes live after a 3-day window with a one-click “Don’t publish” email, at most one per day, and can be unpublished in one click for 7 days. Or switch to drafts only. Learn more: Calibration and an approval window
  • Authority without link schemes. No link exchanges, no paid links. We find the pages that cite your competitors and draft honest outreach you send yourself, plus legitimate directories for your sector. Learn more: Authority without link schemes
  • Straight into your CMS. WordPress, Webflow (Data API), Framer (Server API), Shopify, Ghost, Notion or a signed webhook, with fields mapped per collection. On WordPress, articles arrive as drafts unless you turn on automatic publishing. Learn more: Straight into your CMS
  • Cancel in one click. From the Stripe customer portal, no email or call. Plans from €19/month with articles included; Business with 30 articles is €89, with weekly measurement in 6 AI tools on top ($99 at Outrank). Learn more: Cancel in one click

Choose Citable if…

  • You want to know, question by question, whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI cite you, and whether it changes.
  • You want autopilot with verification, calibration and an approval window, and results measured per question.
  • You want authority work without link exchanges or paid links.
  • Your budget is closer to €19–49 a month per site than $99.

How much does Outrank cost compared with Citable?

Outrank: $99/mo per site, as published on its pricing page (checked 4 October 2026). Citable: €19, €49 or €89 a month per site with 8, 20 or 30 articles included, and a free agency account that earns 20% of every client payment. Annual billing gives 2 months free.

Is Citable an Outrank alternative?

Yes, for sites that care about being cited by AI engines. Outrank focuses on publishing volume and automated backlinks; Citable measures AI answers every week, writes sourced articles for the gaps (8 to 30 a month included, up to 90 on Business) and never builds links through exchanges.

Does Citable build backlinks?

Not by exchanging or buying links. We list the pages that cite your competitors, draft honest outreach for you to send, and suggest legitimate directories for your sector. You decide and send; nothing is placed automatically.

Can Citable publish as many articles as Outrank?

Yes: Business includes 30 articles a month for €89, like Outrank’s base plan, and adds packs of 30 or 60 extra (up to 90), like its add-ons. Outrank charges $99 without measuring AI answers every week.

Can I switch from Outrank?

Yes. Your existing articles stay on your site. We measure whether AI engines cite them, and on every plan we suggest improvements to existing pages using Search Console.

Can I try Citable for free?

Yes. Adding your site and the technical audit are free, with no card. Every plan has a 14-day free trial with your first 5 articles: we ask for a card, charge nothing until it ends and you can cancel in one click. Plans cost €19, €49 or €89 a month per site.
