An honest note
As of September 2026, no major AI search engine has publicly confirmed that it uses llms.txt to decide what to cite, and Google has said Google Search doesn’t use it. It’s cheap to add and can help agents and tools that do read it, but don’t expect it to change your AI visibility on its own.

Will llms.txt get me cited by ChatGPT?
There’s no public evidence that it does. Getting cited depends on having pages that answer your buyers’ questions and on other sites referencing you. Measure it before and after if you want to know.
Is llms.txt the same as robots.txt?
No. robots.txt tells crawlers what they may fetch; llms.txt suggests what’s worth reading. It doesn’t allow or block anything.
